Contemporary manuscript copy by Ivory Lord of a letter written by her aunt, Dorcas Andrews. The copy, preceded by a short note by Lord, has been sent to Narcissa and Martha, daughters of Andrews' husband. Andrews writes that she and her husband traveled in 1851 with 100 other Mormon families from Salt Lake to California, where they settled on the San Barnadine [sic] River, about 50 miles east of Los Angeles. She describes their settlement, the climate, and local crops.
